How to make a Virtual Boy to SNESKey adapter v0.9 By David Tucker and Amos Bieler ------------------------------------- Neded: ------------------------------------- You will need the folowing: 1 DB25 Mail adapter 1 VB Controller 1 VB Controller Connector (Scrape it from a broken VB, or just cut the connector from the end of the controller (Hope you have a spare) 3 Diodes (optional) Finaly you will need a copy of SNESKey http://www.csc.tntech.edu/~jbyork/ Direct Pad Pro http://www.ziplabel.com/dpadpro/index.html or any game that has direct support for a parallel port SNES/VB controller adapter ------------------------------------- Building the Parallel Port adapter: ------------------------------------- VBController   Color        LPT Pin ------------------------------------- 2 Power (+5v)__Blue__________7 ** 4 Clock________Orange________2 3 Latch________Brown_________3 1 Data_________Yellow________10 5 GND (0v)_____Black_________18-25 ** Note, you can alternantly hoop this up like so: 2 Power (+5v)__Blue-+---|<---7 | +---|<---8 | +---|<---9 where ---|<--- is a low power diode ------------------------------------- Using SNESKey: ------------------------------------- In your MAIN SNESKEY.INI (the one in the SNESKey directory) put [Arcade Config] NumInputs = 14 // the names of all 'NumInputs' inputs Input0 = Down2 Input1 = Left2 Input2 = Select Input3 = Start Input4 = Up Input5 = Down Input6 = Left Input7 = Right Input8 = Right2 Input9 = Up2 Input10 = L Input11 = R Input12 = B Input13 = A In your software's SNESKEY.INI file put [Config] // standard 'CONFIG' stuff such as the path to the program to run [arcade]     (note you can have up to [arcade 5], like SNES or NES!) NumShifts = 0 Shifts = Down2 = d,o,w,n,2 Left2 = l,e,f,t,2 Select = s,l,c,t Start = s,t,r,t Up = u,p Down = d,o,w,n Left = l,e,f,t Right = r,i,g,h,t Right2 = r,i,g,h,t,2 Up2 = u,p,2 L = l R = r B = b A = a And, VOILA!  You have VB Pad support in SNESKey! ------------------------------------- Special Note, all the above info was sent in by Amos Bieler. He realy deserves the credit for hooking up the VB Controller to the PC. All I did was figure out the pinout (any Chimp with an Osiloscope could do that). Also I have not tested (yet) the SNESKey INI File settings. If it works for you great, And if not, its not my trouble. Finaly, hooking up hardware to your PC can damage it (If done incorectly) You are on your own hear. We are not responsible for any damage that may occure through the use of theas plans Ither to your PC, to you, or anything else. Consider yourself forwarned.
